a group for inner life study currently meets on two days during the week:
Mondays – 8:15 EDT
Wednesdays – 7:15 EDT
Q: Are meetings available to those who live at a distance or are unable to travel?
A: Yes. a group for inner life study is centered in the Princeton, New Jersey area. One of the consequences of our current challenges is the discovery by many of us of ways to communicate in groups by phone or over the internet. Our meetings will begin strictly using these means, such as Zoom and telephone conferencing. There is no way to know today when “in person” meetings can begin. When they do, a group for inner life study will continue to maintain the availability of meetings to those at a distance or unable to travel.
Q: How many people will be attending the meetings?
A: The number of people interested in these first meetings is growing. It is important that the meetings have a quality of intimacy. More than one meeting time will be established each week in order to keep the meeting attendance within bounds. The first meetings may be larger in number before smaller groups are established. It is asked for patience and understanding as we get underway – we want to be inclusive and at the same time productive in our efforts.
Q: Are there any charges associated with participation?
A: No.
Q: Is a computer and internet access required to participate.
A: No. One can dial in using a phone or join a meeting via the internet.
Q: What if I need to join a meeting late or leave early?
A: Entering a meeting after it begins and leaving before it ends due to personal needs is completely acceptable.
Q: What if I miss part or all of a meeting?
A: Group members will have restricted (login) access to meeting notes and edited audio recordings and transcriptions. Meeting participants will always have the option to have the recording paused during their share, or have their contribution deleted after the meeting and prior to general member access.
Q: Why are meetings recorded?
A: Meetings are recorded for a number of reasons. It allows members who are absent to benefit from the missed meeting. It allows the moderators to examine their responses. It provides a resource from which excerpts can be used to help interested people get a sense of the group. Lastly, the group is intended as a study of inner life. Listening to meetings supports this purpose.
Q: What if I don’t wish to be recorded?
A: Meeting participants will always have the option to have the recording paused during their share, or have their contribution deleted after the meeting and prior to transcription and general member access.
Q: Can a member participate in more than one meeting a week?
A: Yes. Participants are asked to choose a “primary” meeting day and time, but all are welcome to be present at any meetings that are offered, especially if one is unable on one week or another to be at their “primary” meeting.
Q: What if I am unable to participate at any of the meeting times?
A: If none of the current meeting days or times are available for you please let us know what is. A connection can be maintained through phone support and access provided to meeting recordings and notes.
Q: Is personal and individual support available by phone?
A: Yes. Communication by phone is available to both those who are interested and considering participation as well as group “members”. Please don’t hesitate to call – the dedicated group phone number is 609-250-5342.
